Paint or Pencil?

The most popular medium for commissions is pastel pencils as these are excellent for capturing detail and creating realistic looking fur and soft skin. As pencils don't require drying time, this means your commission may be ready sooner.

Acrylic is a vibrant, fast drying medium which is great for creating texture and pieces with a painterly affect. 

Gouache is a paint which is similar to watercolour but with a more opaque nature. This means it can provide the whimsical, delicate effect by building up translucent layers but it can be layered on thickly too. ​

Graphite can be used for a monochrome portrait which produced a classic, understated piece of art. 

Oil is a timeless medium capable of producing exquisite results in rich, creamy colour. Great for blending and also for creating texture in realistic art pieces. The one downside to using oil paint is that it can take a long time to dry. If you choose this medium, you will need to account for 3- 6 months drying time. 

Dry Brush Technique is achieved by using very thin layers of black oil paint to create a striking graphite- like affect.
